Creating a New Project

Learn how to create a new Autodesk Forma project in Foreman, including selecting a hub, entering details, and applying templates.

Foreman lets you create new Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) projects directly from its interface. This guide walks you through each step of the project creation process.

Prerequisites

Before creating a project, ensure the following:

  • You are signed in to Foreman with your Autodesk account.
  • Your Autodesk account has sufficient permissions to create projects in the target ACC hub.
  • At least one hub is accessible from your account.

Step 1 — Navigate to Create Project

From the main sidebar, click Create Project. This opens the project creation wizard.

Step 2 — Select a Hub

Choose the ACC hub where the project will be created. The hub dropdown lists all hubs your Autodesk account has access to. Each hub typically represents a separate organization or business unit within ACC.

If you don't see the expected hub, verify that your Autodesk account has been granted admin or project-creation permissions for that hub in ACC.

Step 3 — Enter Project Details

Fill in the required project information:

  • Project Name — A descriptive name for the project. This will appear in both Foreman and ACC.
  • Project Type — Select the type that best describes the project (e.g., Commercial, Residential, Infrastructure).

Step 4 — Choose a Template

Select a project template to pre-configure the new project with standard settings. Templates can include predefined folder structures, roles, and configurations that match your organization's standards.

If no template is needed, you can proceed without one and configure the project manually after creation.

Step 5 — Create the Project

Review your selections and click Create. Foreman will provision the project in ACC. This may take a moment depending on the template complexity.

Once created, the project appears in your project list and is ready for further configuration such as folder deployment and member assignment.

After creating the project, deploy your folder structure immediately to establish the correct directory layout before team members begin uploading files.
