Organization Roles & Permissions
Understand the three organization roles (Owner, Admin, Member) and the seven granular admin permissions.
Organization Roles
Foreman has three organization-level roles:
| Role | Description |
|---|---|
| Owner | Full control over the organization. Can manage all settings, grant permissions to other admins, and transfer ownership. Every organization has exactly one owner. |
| Admin | Elevated access based on granted permissions. Admins start with no permissions and must be granted specific capabilities by the owner. |
| Member | Standard user. Can use all enabled features but cannot manage organization-level configuration. |
Admin Permissions
The owner can grant any combination of these seven permissions to other admins:
| Permission | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Manage Billing | Change subscription plan, manage payment methods, access Stripe portal |
| Manage Members | Invite and remove organization members |
| Manage Configuration | APS credentials, hub settings, MCP projects, webhooks |
| Manage Quality & Extracts | QA rule sets, zone templates, validation lists, attribute extract definitions |
| Manage Access Requests | Design access request forms, review and approve/reject requests |
| Manage Feature Modules | Enable or disable feature modules (QA, Members, Files, AI) |
| Manage Data Privacy | Data privacy settings, local file upload toggle, AI chat, retention policies |
What can members do?
Members can use all features that are enabled for the organization:
- Create and manage projects
- Browse, search, and deploy files
- Run QA checks using existing rule sets
- Run attribute extractions using existing templates
- Submit access requests
- Create and manage their own scheduled jobs
- Use AI chat (if enabled)
- Submit feedback
- Manage their own account settings
How do I become an admin?
The organization owner can promote you to admin from the Organization → Members page and then grant you specific permissions.
How do I transfer ownership?
The current owner can transfer ownership to any other admin from the Organization → Members page by clicking Transfer Ownership next to the target admin.
