Searching & Filtering

Learn how to search, filter, and interpret the graph view using subject types, permission levels, and line styles to quickly find relevant nodes and access details.

Search

A search bar sits at the top of the graph canvas, next to the layout selector. Type to search by:

  • Folder name — matches against the display label and full path
  • Subject name — matches user names, role names, and company names
  • Node ID — matches the underlying Autodesk identifier

As you type, matching nodes and their connected edges stay fully visible while everything else fades. A badge shows the match count.

Action How
Focus search Press / or click the search bar
Clear search Press Escape or click the X button

Filtering by Subject Type

The legend panel (bottom-left of the canvas) shows three subject type toggles:

  • User (blue circle) — individual project members
  • Role (pink square) — project roles
  • Company (green dashed square) — company-level permissions

Click any subject type in the legend to hide or show all nodes of that type. Hidden types appear faded with strikethrough text. Their connected edges are also hidden.

Filtering by Permission Level

Below the subject types, the legend shows five permission level toggles:

  • View Only (grey)
  • View/Download (blue)
  • Upload (amber)
  • Upload + Edit (red)
  • Full Control (green)

Click any level to hide edges of that permission type. Subjects that lose all visible edges are also hidden, keeping the graph clean.

Line Style Legend

The legend also includes a Line Style section:

  • Solid line — direct permission assigned to this folder
  • Dashed line — inherited permission from a parent folder

This helps you quickly distinguish which permissions can be edited at the current level.

Example: To see only Full Control access, click all other permission levels to dim them. Only green edges and their connected subjects remain visible.

Hover Highlighting

Hover over any node to instantly highlight its neighbourhood — the node itself plus all connected edges and adjacent nodes. Everything else fades to 12% opacity, making it easy to trace a single subject's access pattern.

  • For folders, a tooltip shows the full folder path (e.g., Project Files / Plans / Structural).
  • For connections (lines), a tooltip shows the specific permission level (e.g., "Full Control"). Hovering over a connection also highlights the two connected nodes, making it easy to confirm exactly which subject and folder the rule applies to.

Collapsing the Legend

Click the Legend header to collapse or expand the legend panel. The collapsed state is saved in your browser.
