Setting Up Your First Project

Learn how to set up your first project in Foreman by selecting an Autodesk Construction Cloud hub, choosing a project, and deploying a standardized folder structure with the Project Matrix wizard.

Overview

Once you have completed the onboarding wizard, the next step is to set up your first project in Foreman. This involves selecting an Autodesk Construction Cloud hub, choosing a project, and optionally deploying a standardized folder structure using the Project Matrix wizard.

Selecting a hub

  1. From the sidebar, navigate to Create Project Folders (or use the quick action on the dashboard).
  2. Foreman will load the list of ACC hubs available to your Autodesk account.
  3. Select the hub that contains the project you want to work with.

Only hubs where your Autodesk account has administrative or project-level access will appear in the list. If a hub is missing, verify your permissions in Autodesk Construction Cloud.

Picking a project

  1. After selecting a hub, you will see the list of projects within that hub.
  2. Click on the project you want to configure.
  3. Foreman will load the project details and any existing folder structure.

Using the Project Matrix wizard

The Project Matrix wizard lets you deploy a consistent, standardized folder structure to your project. This is especially useful for organizations that need every project to follow the same file organization.

  1. With your project selected, click Create Project Folders to launch the wizard.
  2. Choose a template — Select from available project templates that define your folder hierarchy. Templates can include multiple levels of folders organized by discipline, trade, or document type.
  3. Configure options — Depending on the template, you may be prompted to select Level 1 options (top-level categories) and role assignments that control folder permissions.
  4. Review the folder preview — The wizard displays a tree view of all folders that will be created. Review this carefully before proceeding.
  5. Deploy — Click Deploy to create the folders in your ACC project. Foreman will show a progress indicator as folders are created.

Folder deployment writes directly to your Autodesk Construction Cloud project. Make sure you have selected the correct project and reviewed the folder preview before clicking Deploy.

After deployment

Once folders are deployed, you can:

  • Browse files using the File Browser to navigate your new folder structure.
  • Add project members and assign them appropriate roles and folder-level permissions.
  • Schedule validation jobs to periodically check that the folder structure remains compliant with your template.
  • Copy the matrix to other projects that need the same structure.
