Detail Panel & ACC Links

Learn how to use the slide-out detail panel to view, edit, and manage permissions, connections, and Advisor insights for nodes in the access control graph.

The Slide-Out Panel

Click any node in the graph to open a slide-out detail panel on the right side of the screen. The panel slides in without blocking interaction with the graph — you can still pan, zoom, and click other nodes while it's open.

Panel Tabs

The panel has two tabs:

  • Details — shows connections and editing controls for the selected node
  • Advisor — shows the Permissions Advisor analysis with severity-filtered insights and one-click fixes

You can also open the Advisor tab directly from the Advisor button in the toolbar.

Panel Header

The header shows:

  • A coloured icon matching the subject type (folder, user, role, or company) when on the Details tab, or a lightbulb icon for the Advisor tab
  • The type label (e.g., "Folder", "User", "Role", "Company")
  • The resolved name in large text

Connections List

The panel body lists all permissions for the selected node:

  • For folders — shows all subjects (users, roles, companies) that have permissions on this folder
  • For subjects — shows all folders this subject has access to

Each connection shows:

  • The permission level in a dropdown (editable for direct permissions)
  • An Inherited badge for permissions inherited from a parent folder
  • A remove button for direct permissions

Connections are sorted by permission weight (highest first).

Editing Permissions

Changing a Permission Level

For any direct (non-inherited) permission, use the dropdown to select a new level:

  • View Only
  • View/Download
  • Upload
  • Upload + Edit
  • Full Control

The change is staged locally — the connection highlights in blue to indicate a pending change. Changes are not applied until you click Save Changes.

Removing a Permission

Click the trash icon next to any direct permission to stage it for removal. The connection highlights in red with a strikethrough.

Adding a Permission

When viewing a folder node, an Add Permission button appears at the bottom of the panel (only available when the project has a role CSV uploaded).

  1. Click Add Permission to open the add panel
  2. Select the permission level from the dropdown
  3. Search for a role by name
  4. Click a role to stage the addition

Roles that are already assigned (or already staged) are automatically hidden from the list.

Pending Changes

All staged changes appear in the Pending Changes section at the bottom of the panel. Each change shows:

  • A colour-coded icon: green (+) for adds, red (trash) for removals, blue (edit) for level changes
  • The subject name and folder name
  • The specific change (e.g., "View → Full" or "Add as Edit" or "Remove (Full)")
  • An undo (x) button to revert individual changes

Click Save Changes to apply all pending changes in a single batch, or Discard to cancel all of them.

Note: Inherited permissions cannot be edited from the current folder. Navigate to the parent folder where the permission was originally assigned to modify it.

Right-Click Context Menu

Right-click on any edge (permission line) to open a context menu where you can:

  • Change the permission level — select from the available levels (the current level is highlighted)
  • Remove the permission — stage it for deletion

Right-click on any node to:

  • View Details — open the detail panel for this node
  • View Subfolders (folders only) — drill into the folder
  • Open in Autodesk Forma (folders only) — open the folder in Forma with the permissions panel visible

For inherited permissions, the context menu shows an informational message instead of edit options.

Folder Actions

When a folder is selected, two action buttons appear:

Button Description
View subfolders Drills into this folder, loading its children in the graph
Forma Opens the folder directly in Autodesk Forma with the permissions panel visible

The link is region-aware — it uses the correct domain for your account (US, EMEA, etc.).

Forma Links on Connections

When viewing a subject's connections, each folder in the list also has a small external link icon that opens that folder in Forma.

Permissions Advisor Tab

The Advisor tab analyses the current graph data and surfaces insights grouped by severity:

  • Critical (red) — issues that likely need attention, such as folders with no permissions
  • Warning (amber) — potential problems worth reviewing, such as direct user permissions or permission gaps
  • Suggestion (blue) — optimisation opportunities, such as role consolidation or redundant permissions

Filtering Insights

Use the severity pills at the top to filter: All, Critical, Warnings, or Suggestions.

Expanding an Insight

Click any insight card to expand it and see:

  • Affected items — the specific folders, users, or roles involved
  • Fix actions — buttons to stage recommended changes

Applying Fixes

For insights with actionable fixes:

  • If there are 3 or fewer fixes, each gets its own Apply button
  • If there are more, an Apply all button stages everything at once, or click Review individually to see and apply each fix separately
  • Applied fixes appear in the Pending Changes section on the Details tab and can be saved or discarded from there

The Advisor re-runs automatically whenever the graph data loads or refreshes. In full tree mode, the Advisor analyses permissions across the entire hierarchy, catching cross-level issues that single-level analysis would miss.

Closing the Panel

Click the X button in the panel header, or click on empty space in the graph.
